The men have been reinforced this year by a new coaching staff – led by veterans Benny van Nuffel and Lukas Van der Linden – and have completed a tight preparation program with good results. In 2016, our National Team Softball Men achieved a bronze medal at the E.C. and in 2018 a fifth place. The sentiment is that the softball men are clearly back on the level to compete for a podium spot. Much will be determined by the pitching of both our own squad and opponents’ and of “extra batting strength” of some recruited (ex) Red Hawks players.
The Men’s Softball European Championship 2023 will be played from July 24-29, 2023 in Hørsholm, Denmark. With 12 participating countries, the first round is divided into 4 groups. Belgium will face Slovakia and home team Denmark in the first round in Group B. The medalists go on to the World Cup 2025.
Nice to mention is that the umpire-in-chief of the E.C. is Louis Vischschoonmaker.
Belgium will play its first game against Denmark on Monday, July 24 at 1 p.m.
