Red Hawks and U23 Baseball National Team ready to start preparation for European Championships this summer.
The Red Hawks and the U23 Baseball National Team are set to start their preparation in two weeks for the European Baseball Championships this summer.
Since the group draw in November 2022, the Red Hawks have known what awaits them in Group D. From September 24th until September 26th, they will play against, in the following order, Germany, Switzerland and Israel. All games for Group D will be played in Prague. Once the pool play is finished, they will play games in Brno or Blansko depending on their ranking in Group D.
The U23 Baseball National Team (NT) will compete in Group B of the U23 European Baseball Championship. From August 8th until August 10th, they will play against Germany, Italy and France.
Starting in two weeks, the Red Hawks and the U23 Baseball NT will begin to prepare for the tournaments this summer during three practice periods. The first practice period will take place from May 18th until May 21st. A larger selection of both Red Hawks and U23 eligible players will practice during this 4-day period at the Borgerhout Squirrels facilities.
The second practice period will also take place at the Borgerhout Squirrels facilities. This will be a final stretch for our U23 Baseball NT straight to the U23 European Baseball Championship in Austria. Nevetheless, again a delegation of both Red Hawks and U23 Baseball NT eligible players will be present during the evening sessions. The practice period consists mainly out of evening sessions, but also a game for the U23 Baseball NT against an American Travel Team. On August 6th the U23 NT will then head out towards Austria where they will have a last team practice on August 7th before the start the start of the tournament on August 8th.
The third practice period will be the last straight line for the Red Hawks towards the European Baseball Championship in Czech Republic. The week before the start of the EC is filled with evening sessions and possible games. By this time the selection will also be slimmed down quite a bit from the initial selection during the first practice period in May. The Red Hawks are set to leave towards Prague on September 22th. They will also have a last team practice at a local field before the start of their pool play on September 24th.
