Yoshitaka Nammoku joins the history books with No-Hitter for Borgerhout Squirrels

In an intense showdown between the Borgerhout Squirrels and the Deurne Spartans last Saturday, Japanese left-handed pitcher Yoshitaka Nammoku had a memorable moment in Belgian baseball. With an exceptional performance, Nammoku managed to throw a no-hitter against the Spartans, who were crowned champions just last year.

This sensational achievement confirms Nammoku's reputation coming out of the German 2nd Baseball Bundesliga. He had already impressed everyone in 2023 when he played for the Munich Caribes in Germany. During his tenure with the Munich Caribes, Nammoku posting an ERA of 1.75, 14 wins, and a remarkable 202 strikeouts in the season.

Now, in a nail-biting game, Yoshitaka Nammoku made history by pitching a no-hitter against the Deurne Spartans, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Borgerhout. The lone run of the game came from a pinch hit walk-off single by Matas Sirgedas, allowing Sam Boermans to score. Nammoku threw an  impressive 17 strikeouts over 9 innings with 5 walks.
